Where Am I Going in 2018?

After China, I was looking forward to some downtime, coming back home and getting my life started, maybe putting off big travel for a while. At most I was thinking about putting around Colorado. There is still so much that I have not seen in my home state and you know I am a fan of day trips. But as this new year has gotten underway and plans are starting to come to mind, I'm starting to realize that this will not be a quiet, stay-at-home kind of year. So, lets take a quick look at my travel plans.

New Mexico
You've heard before that I grew up as an Army brat. Well, the year that I was going off to collage, my family moved down to Texas. While they lived there they went to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, not too far away. They went without me. I have a thing for caves. I love them. I think they are really cool. I think my parents may feel a little guilty, so they are taking me back and also going to Roswell, NM, a first for all of us. It will be over a long weekend so we'll spend three days (including travel) and I'm really excited to get going.

San Francisco and Oakland
I recently had a good friend get married and her and her new husband are moving to the bay area for his job. So, after they've got settled, me and some friends were thinking about visiting her and making it a little girls' trip. I think it will be a blast, and I loved San Francisco when I was there last.

Arizona
This is another girls' trip type thing as I have another friend who will be graduating in May. Where I am a newly graduated adult-adjacent individual, i do not have to worry about all those pesky Finals around that same time and can actually go out to visit for the special occasion. I'm toying with the idea of making it a solo road trip, as I still haven't see the Grand Canyon and it's along the way. I'm sure there are plenty of other things to see as well.

Washington and Oregon
I have been toying with the idea of a Pacific-Northwest road trip for some time now. I think that area would be beautiful and I have family in Oregon that could take me in for some of it. Also, my roommate in China was from Washington and I might have promised to visit her. I think the Pacific coast is calling my name this summer.

Jordan
So, my dad id in the U.S. Army, right? Well, in the specific job he has now, he does a lot of traveling and racks up a lot of miles. In his travels he has visited the country of Jordan a few times and has told me that I can come along the next time he goes and a lot of it will already be taken care of like the rental car and the hotel room. So that is set for sometime this fall and I am stoked. I can't wait to dive in to a whole new culture and a new area.
Well I am pumped for this new year and I hope you are too.
Happy Travels,
