So I'm still getting ready for China, and I've got a lot of good posts coming up about that but as I get ready, here is a little post about a trip I had a few weeks ago this summer, back to Utah to visit family. It was a ten day trip and I knew that I would be doing a bunch of different things so I needed to pack smarter, not more.
So before I started packing I went through what I knew I would be doing there. Ten days in Utah among family and friends. I knew that Family Camp was going to happen that week and I also knew that I wanted to spend the day with my friends in Salt Lake. I expected that all the other time there would be spent eating out, going to the movies, or roasting marshmallows, so I had various activities to plan for, not the least of which is family camp. we would My family has this event center in Morgan, Utah. We call it the Bar W Lodge or the Rec Barn. You can find it on Facebook if you want ot see more. So, every year we have a camp for the little kids in the family, my cousins, and it's just a great time seeing everyone and having fun.
How I Packed
The packing for this trip was so much fun. I knew that the shirt that I would get for family camp this year, the one that I would wear most of the three days up there, was going to be mostly purple, so I worked off of that and made my color scheme: purple, turquoise, white, tan, and silver.
Tops
White t-shirt
Pink t-shirt
Tan top
Purple blouse
Turquoise kimono
White lace peplum
Bottoms
Khaki shorts
Purple shorts
White shorts
Turquoise Capris
Floral pencil skirt

I ended up with 6 tops and 5 bottoms, with a total of 28 combinations not including accessories. These are all the outfit combinations using my everyday clothes, so, not including any active or sports wear.
As well as these, I had three pairs of shoes (sandals, vans, heels) one of which I wore in the car on the ride up. I also packed athletic wear that could double for everyday attire or pajamas, undergarments, and my toiletry bag, All set!

What I did
So here's some of the highlights from my trip. On Monday, we took a trip up Sardine Canyon, had a picnic in the park, went to the Willow Park Zoo in Logan, and got Aggie ice cream form my alma mater. Tuesday began the first of three days of Camp and we had a blast. We went four-wheeling and spent hours blowing massive bubbles, The Saturday after camp ended, I went out with my friends and celebrated a birthday. We went Sugar House and found an awesome authentic waffle house with great food. I stood on my chair and conducted the restaurant in a chorus of happy birthday and then we went next door to a really cool thrift shop; both the tops that I bought there are with me in China right now. We still had a few hours before anyone had to get home, so we asked google to help us find an antique store and had an adventure going back and forth over the train tracks, trying to find it. It wasn't in the nicest part of town. I was lucky enough to have adventure buddies so we made sure to implement the buddy system. The store was really cool and we had a lot of fun.

Happy Travels,
