Where Am I Going?

To write a travel blog you have to travel, right? This isn't a trick questions. Yes! You have to travel or at least be planning to travel. Considering that, I just wanted to give you a little sneak peak at what I have planned and where I will be going. Consider this my credentials.

Vacation in Mexico

As a graduation present, my parents are taking me and my family to Cancún, Mexico. The tropical vacation will be 5 days, including travel. We don't have a lot of details planned out so we'll just have to see where the wind takes us.

Camping Trips in Colorado

I'll be going on a on boating trip and a backpacking trip in Colorado. The boating trip is an annual summer tradition that my family and I have. We get together with a few other families and camp out for a couple of nights. We go tubing and water skiing and eat all sorts of good camp food. Packing for camp-outs is definitely different than normal vacation travel.

As a separate trip, my dad is talking me and my sister on a mini backpacking camp-out to get us ready for the big one in Wyoming later in the year.

Trip to Utah

I'm going back to Utah to visit family and attend a family reunion of sorts. It will be a week-and-a-half long trip with various activities and celebrations. It's always fun to travel when you're going to see family.

Backpacking in Wyoming * I am also going on a 4 day backpacking trip with my more outdoorsy family members. We will hike into the Wind River Mountain Range in Wyoming, using backpacks to carry all the supplies we will need to camp and fish for our meals for 4 days.

Volunteering in China

Later in the year, I am flying out to China. I will live there for sixteen weeks as I volunteer and teach kids English. I am going with the International Language Programs (ILP) based out of Provo, UT. It is purely volunteer work, I am not getting paid, but I am super excited for it. I know that it will be great to immerse myself in the culture and spend my days around kids. ILP takes care of a lot of the hard stuff too, like Visas and living arrangements.

Road Trip to Washington

This road trip is something that is vaguely in the works. It would be an adventure with a few of my friends to go explore the Pacific Northwest, making stops in California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

I am so excited to go on all these fun trips in the upcoming year. I learn something new from every trip I go on and I can't wait because it feeds my soul. I hope you'll come along with me for some of the ride as you plan your own adventures and explore the world we live in.

Happy Travels,

Challis Hackley

*I did not end up going backpacking in Wyoming (Summer 2017) because I extended my stay in Utah so I could visit friends that I hadn't seen for a few months. This trip, however, is a yearly occurance and I will proably go next time (Summer 2018)
